Margarita's Full Moon Madness Benefit. Margarita's Mexican Restaurant, 227 Moody St in Waltham will hold a benefit for the Waltham Land Trust. The Full Moon Margarita Madness program benefits different local charities each month through the donation of 5% of its gross lounge receipts on the night of the Full Moon (note this does not include dinner receipts). When it's cold, icy and wet what do the animals do? Come find out about survival strategies and adaptations that help the wildlife of Massachusetts live through the winter. Find out more about mammals, birds and amphibians and how they live -especially in winter. Join staff from Mass Audubon's Habitat Sanctuary for a vacation week program for children in grades K thru 5. There will be two simultaneous sessions, one for grades K-2 and one for grades 3-5. Limit of 15 participants per session. The program will be held at Stonehurst, the Robert Treat Paine Estate, 100 Robert Treat Paine Drive, Waltham. Also of interest: Arlington Land Trust Annual Meeting Monday, January 22nd 7-9pm Robbins Library Community Room Guest Speaker Katherine Abbott will talk about Campaigning for Public Parks: A Personal and Professional Journey. Abbott is the presently the director of the Conservation and Recreation Campaign, housed at the Trust for Public Land in Boston. The campaign is working to increase annual funding for the operations and maintenance of parks and public lands. The campaign's aim is to broaden the constituency for the parks, and to educate and encourage the legislature to increase public spending for them. Abbott was formerly the commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the president and CEO of the Island Alliance. The meeting is open to any interested residents who wish to learn more about efforts to preserve and protect open space in Arlington.
